Raised a colossal statue of Amehotep III

The colossus is Amehotep III seated on a throne decorated and accompanied by a statue beautiful and very well preserved of Queen Tiye, standing near the right leg of the king. Was raised in its original place by members of the "The colossus of Memnon and Amehotep III temple conservation project", a team euro-Egyptian who works for the conservation of the fune rary temple of Amehotep III to Luxor from 1998.

The colossus was found lying in the ruins of the funerary temple of Amehotep III. IT IS the northern statue of a couple of giants in quartzite, which once were erected at the door of the second pylon (the typical monumental entrance of an Egyptian temple), 100 meters behind the famous Colossi of Memnon, to guard the first pylon. The colossus, destroyed by a strong earthquake around 1200 BC, he was removed from the mud in 2004, transported on a solid ground for the study and conservation in 2005, and reported in the vicinity of its base in 2011.
In 2011 it was uncovered it another colossal statue of alabaster Amehotep III: fleur a path leading into the third pylon.
